Some people think that cleaning windows is a boring activity. You have to make it a fun activity.
To make the window cleaning work effective and efficient, follow the instructions of an expert named Carolyn Forte who is the Director of the Good Housekeeping Cleaning Lab Institute.
1. Do it during sunny weather
Cleaning the window should be done when the sun is shining hot. Therefore, the cleaning process must be done as soon as possible. What’s more, even though it is in the rainy season, but sometimes suddenly the weather turns cloudy and rain falls.
2. Clean the dirt and dust first
Start by cleaning the dirt on the window frame by brushing or vacuuming it using a vacuum cleaner. This will prevent the dirt from clumping when mixed with cleaning fluid.
If your window glass looks very dirty, clean it with hot water using a soft cloth or brush, then rinse and let it dry.
For curtains that are dusty fast, you should use a microfiber cloth to clean both sides.
However, first remove the curtain from the window frame, then wipe it with a microfiber cloth, starting from the wet one and then the dry one.
You can also refresh the curtains by drying them through a gust of wind for 15 minutes or until they dry. Then, hang it back quickly to prevent it from wrinkling.
3. Select the right cleanser and spray it properly
Don’t hold the spray, especially if your window looks very dirty. You need a lot of cleaning solution and have to spray it exactly on the dirt so that it can be completely removed.
4. Use microfiber cloth
Some people like to dry window panels with newspapers, but it’s better to use microfiber cloth. This fabric is easy to absorb, washable, and make the glass more glossy and free of scratches.
Some of these fabric brands have a honeycomb texture that is useful for absorbing water spots, stains, and dirt from mirrors and glass without scratches.
If you prefer to use tissue, choose a brand that has good quality. Thin, limp tissue can actually damage and leave fibers.
5. Avoid using “squeegee”
Squeegee is a glass cleaning device in the form of a flat knife with a rubber tip. The point is to remove liquid and dirt from a flat surface.
People who clean windows with this tool must be able to use it properly. Including knowing the flow of water attached to the tool and where the direction of dust is cleaned.
The use of squeegee is recommended for large windows, while in small windows it will be more troublesome because of the water droplets.
6. Make a schedule
You only need to clean the windows one or two times a year. It’s even easier if you do it at home from one room to another. When you clean the window, wipe one side horizontally and the other side vertically. If there are lines remaining, you will easily find out whether on the outside or inside the window.
