Montgomery is a village in Orange County, New York. The population was 3,636 at the 2000 census. The village is named after General Richard Montgomery.
The Village of Montgomery is inside the Town of the same name. The original name for the village was Ward's Bridge, from James Ward, one of the first settlers, who built and operated a grist mill in what is now the village during the mid-18th century. A bridge over the Wallkill River near the mill was named after him, and even today the name and the bridge, which carries Route 17K into the village, remain in use.
The Village of Montgomery is home to the production facilities of Orange County Choppers, the company documented in the television series American Chopper.

The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.24.
In the village the population was spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
