The Village of Ellenville is within the Town of Wawarsing. The village is located at the junction of NY 52 and US 209.

It was the fourth community featured on ABC's television show, My Kind of Town, on September 4, 2005. The town post office and the George and John R. Hunt Memorial Building are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
